PHIL GRANT'S PHOTOGRAPHY

Most people think of Venice, Italy when they think of canals.  Actually, there is a Venice much closer to home.  One of the photography magazines was interested in reflections and Venice causes many reflections.  To see additional photographs, click on the photo to the right.

Ground Zero is a pretty overwhelming sight.  The hole now looks kind of like it did when I left New York in 1972 during the initial construction. New York City is still one of a kind with the street vendors in Chinatown and the push cart gourmets on every corner.  A walk down Third Avenue in the 30s exposes every type of restaurant known to man.  To see additional photographs, click on the photo to the right.

Seattle is remembered for many things but for those of us who stay awake only when stimulated, the location of the original Starbucks is a national shrine.  To see additional photographs, click on the photo to the right.

Brugge is a delightful city in Northern Belgium.  It is only a couple of hours from Brussels by train and has a charming air.  There are wonderful open air fish markets and plazas.  Boat rides through the canal induce an immediate feeling of calm.  To see additional photographs, click on the photo to the right.

Brussels is a very large city that combines the Flemish and French cultures.  The beer is wonderful and the Mannekin Pis must be seen.  The city is bustling and cosmopolitan with many of the European Union and NATO offices occupying large office complexes.  The Grand Place is the tourist hub with many old Guild Halls, cafes and shops.  You can usually find some inexpensive "street art" to serve as a memento of the trip.  There are a few additional photos available by clicking on the photo at the right.

Amsterdam is a city with something for everyone.  Beautiful flowers even when tulips are not in bloom, the Van Gogh Museum, the intriguing canals, a vibrant Indonesian culture and, of course, the famous red lights.  Most anything is legal and the residents are very tolerant.  The Dam Square is the center of the city and trams make all parts of the city easily accessible.

These photographs were taken with a Nikon N-65 and a 28-80 mm lens.  The film was Fuji 100.  As you can see, the day was bright and clear.
